Anxiety

Anxiety is the most human experience that most of us will face at different points in our lives. It can manifest as constant worry, fear, and unease, often interfering with day-to-day activities, important relationships, and overall well-being. Whether it's generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks or specific phobias, the impact can be significant and life-limiting.

Common Challenges

Anxiety can often lead to a variety of challenges for us that significantly impact our daily lives and overall well-being. You might experience issues with:

  • Persistent worry and fear: overthinking and catastrophizing

  • Physical symptoms: fatigue, muscle tension, sleep problems, panic attacks

  • Cognitive Difficulties: concentration issues, memory problems, indecisiveness

  • Emotional Challenges: irritability, overwhelming fear, low self-esteem

  • Behavioural Issues: avoidance, procrastination, compulsive behaviours

  • Social Difficulties: isolation, performance anxiety, communication challenges

  • Impact on Daily Life: work and school, relationships, quality of life

Our Work Together

In my work with anxiety, I draw from several therapeutic modalities but have found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to be one of the most powerful and effective therapeutic approaches for managing anxiety. ACT focuses on accepting what is out of your control and towards doing things that improve your life and overall well-being. In our work, you might:

  • Learn how to stop avoiding and suppressing anxiety thoughts and feelings

  • Give your thoughts less power and control over your life

  • Develop a more compassionate relationship to our anxiety

  • Live in the present moment more often as opposed to getting caught in past or future

  • Establish psychological flexibility to help us adapt to changes more effectively

  • Identify what anxiety is getting in the way of and create a plan to create a more enjoyable life
